Secrets

Some years ago you were looking forward
To going home, holidays with your family
To home-made food and a glass of sweet wine
Unwrapping gifts under the christmas tree

They ask you ’bout a special someone in your life
your smile is innocent but murder in your eyes
you say you’re still looking and they seem so naive
if you told them the truth they would never believe

Nobody sees what they’re not looking for
Nobody asks if they don’t want to know
You’ve got that cynical look in your eyes
Smile of an angel is still your disguise

Maybe you look different than ten years ago
But in their eyes you’re still that sweet shy boy
They don’t suspect darkness in your soul
And you wouldn’t tell them, for why would they know

You feel that you’re both happy and sad
To be sitting here with your mom and dad
Sweet people who don’t even begin to know
What sort of things you go through at home

Nobody sees what they’re not looking for
Nobody asks if they don’t want to know
You’ve got that cynical look in your eyes
Smile of an angel is still your disguise

Nobody sees what they’re not looking for
There is no innocent boy anymore
You’ve got your secrets and you guard them well
Nobody knows that you’re going to hell

They wouldn’t think of asking where you got the money
For the gifts that you bought and put under the tree
At the same time you want to scream and find it funny
Some people just don’t think about some things

Nobody sees what they’re not looking for
Nobody asks if they don’t want to know
You’ve got that cynical look in your eyes
Smile of an angel is still your disguise

Nobody sees what they’re not looking for
There is no innocent boy anymore
You’ve got your secrets and you guard them well
Nobody knows that you’re going to hell
